Liposhifting is a surgery designed to move the body’s fat around from within to improve is shape and contour. No fat is removed during this procedure. Fat cells are emulsified and then “shifted” to the appropriate location. The goal is to smooth out the skin, improving the shape and evenness of the body.
Liposhifting uses a technique known as tumescent anesthesia, which involves a small incision into the skin and the insertion of a small micro-graft fat cutter. This device lifts the fat from its underlying connective tissue, allowing it to be moved to other areas. Once this is done and your surgeon is able to place the fat tisse in the desired area, the incision is closed and the treatment area is taped for several days while the area heals.
This procedure is a surgical operation, and like any operation it comes with certain risks, such as infection and scarring. Your physician will discuss the risks and benefits of your surgery with you during your consultation. It is also important to note that choosing a surgeon who is highly experienced in this technique is critical. Ask your doctor if they have had a great deal of experience performing these procedures.
