In this clip Dr. Lori Brightman discusses Thermage

Body Shape by Thermage

Thermage is a non-invasive treatment, meaning there is no cutting of the skin to perform it, which uses radiofrequency energy to tighten and tone the body and improve its contour. Shaping the body with Thermage is a new application for this device. Originally Thermage was a skin rejuvenation device, however it now has been developed further and can be used to reduce body circumference and improve its shape.

Treatment

Generally patients will only undergo one treatment session with Thermage. Results develop over time and you may see a tightening and lifting of the treatment area for up to 6 months following the procedure. Thermage is performed in a physician’s office. No anesthesia is required during the treatment as the pain is usually mild. If you do feel some pain your doctor may give you an oral medication to numb any discomfort. During the procedure the Thermage hand piece is passed over the skin and the radiofrequency energy begins to deliver energy to the deeper layers of the skin. This treatment may last between 20 minutes and 2 hours.

Results

Immediately following the procedure and for several days afterward you may notice some redness which will pass shortly. There is no downtime following the procedure, though your treating physician may provide you with any post-treatment instructions. Over time, as collagen and elastin develop in the treated area, you may begin to see improvement in the body shape and a lifting of the skin. Results are generally lasting.

Thermage Cost

The cost of a Thermage treatment may range between $2,500 and $9,000 depending on where you live and other factors. This is merely a guide and may not accurately reflect the price for your treatment. Talk to your doctor to discuss your options or visit our Cost page.

How Thermage Works

Thermage works by heating the under layer of the skin, known as the dermis. This heat causes collagen creation, called neocollagenesis. This new collagen makes the skin look firmer & tighter and improves the overall texture of the skin. Thermage is also safe for all skin types.
